Zane Bennett Contemporary Art will
present “Full Circle” featuring new paintings by artist Joshua Rose.
The exhibition runs January 11, 2008 through February 29, 2008 with an
artist reception Friday, January 11, 2008 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Joshua Rose has been a fine arts
professor at New Mexico State University since 1981 and will be
retiring this spring. “Full Circle” represents a cycle of his career
coming to a close. Circles are also a featured aspect of Rose’s new
body of work. His new paintings also come from a love of elemental
structures such as DNA and patterns in nature. These paintings are
comprised of alternately brilliant and quiet dots of color in woven
and embroidered patterns.
Running concurrently with Rose’s show
at Zane Bennett will be a retrospective of his life’s works at the
University Art Gallery at New Mexico State University in Las Cruces,
New Mexico. The show is entitled “Joshua Rose: Retrospective” and will
take place from January 25, 2008 through February 22, 2008, with an
opening on January 25th from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. For further
information, please call the University Art Gallery at 575-646-2545.
Zane Bennett Contemporary Art has
produced a catalog which chronicles Rose’s paintings throughout his
career. The catalog features an essay about Joshua Rose by Jan Schall,
who is the Sanders Sosland Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art at
the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City, Missouri. Schall is
also known for her work with Robert Storr. |
