The zoetrope contains twelve large black and white printed woodcuts. As viewers are prompted to activate the rotation of the zoetrope, the images seen through small vertical windows animate a storm building and passing over the city of Caracas, Venezuela.
The exterior and floor of the zoetrope have meandering notched lines, whose woven, crossing paths subtly reference ship routes and El Helicoide, a never completed 1960s drive-thru mall now turned prison in Caracas.
The Victorian era zoetrope represents the induction and visualization of circular time, or the eternal return, the repetitions of history, and the mixing of the past, present, and future once history is recorded.1of 17
