Join us on January 31st from 5 to 7 PM for the opening reception of Rereading Geometric Abstraction, an exhibition of prints from the Zane Bennett collection that looks at how the formal elements of the movement have evolved. Works by 20th century blue-chip artists like Richard Anuszkiewicz and Ellsworth Kelly illustrate how geometric abstraction splintered into disparte modern art movements like op art and hard-edge painting but retained much of the austerity and aesthetic quality common in geometric abstraction. While works by contemporary artists like Dan Namingha and Jordan Ann Craig illustrate that the canon of geometric abstraction is not as fixed as art history makes it out to be.
Featured artists: Richard Anuszkiewicz, Harmony Hammond, Ellsworth Kelly, Dan Namingha, Jordan Ann Craig, and others.
