Overview

Join us on 31 July 2026 from 5 to 7 p.m. for the opening reception of Fritz Scholder: The Raw Immediacy and Chromatic Vibrations of Fritz Scholder's Prints, a survey of the artist's printmaking practice that redefined America's perception of Indigenous peoples. Celebrate Scholder's lasting impact on contemporary art with prints that illustrate the artist's challenge to visual clichés and his modernist preoccupation with color and form. Featuring several significant works produced during Scholder's long-term collaboration with Tamarind Institute, including Buckskin Indian (Third State) and four of the five state of Indian Landscape, this opening reception honors the breadth of Scholder's interests, from modernism to magic.
