On Saturday, 17 October, 2–3 p.m., join artist and former Benedictine monk Roberto Cardinale for a discussion about his latest exhibition, Structures That Shape Us. Since 1985, Cardinale has created nearly 1,000 hand-built sculptures inspired by churches, missions, synagogues, and other buildings of faith. Working primarily in New Mexico white pine with surfaces that are then richly painted, his architectural sculptures translate monumental sacred spaces into objects for contemplation. Join us as Cardinale shares the roots of his studio practice and the myriad travels and life experiences that shape his work.
