"Many art critics and institutions say that geometric abstraction is beyond its creative phase, or put in plain English, dead. But is it?"
—Spencer Linford, communications
Rereading Geometric Abstraction is a showcase of prints from the Zane Bennett collection that can be broadly categorized as geometric abstraction. While the heyday of geometric abstraction has passed, there are many contemporary artists reviving the visual signatures of the movement to bring attention to historically overlooked forms of art, such as Pueblo pottery and Northern Cheyenne weaving. This showcase is not a rallying cry for geometric abstraction; It is a gloss for how a seemingly dated art movement has been repurposed to tell new stories.
