Jeffrey Gibson’s large-scale solo exhibition The Body Electric appeared at SITE Santa Fe in 2022. This month, the U.S. State Department announced that Gibson will represent the United States at the 2024 Venice Biennale, marking the only time in the American Pavilion’s more-than-90-year history that an Indigenous artist has appeared solo. Gibson is a member of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians and is also of Cherokee descent.
