British Turner Prize-winning artist Chris Ofili has long turned to his home base of Trinidad and Tobago for the inspiration and source material behind his dreamy works on paper. For this fantastical work using color spit bite, a technique involving painted gum arabic and acid that is notoriously tricky to control, Ofili centers the subject under the second-highest waterfall of the island country. With open arms, the amorphous subject of Rincon Falls - Red Light at once rises and falls beside the majestic purple and gold rocks of the falls. The result is visionary: the nature-lover's ultimate dreamy commune with literal and metaphorical paradise.
